DESCRIPTION:The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is proud to offer the c
 itizens of Deschutes County an awareness and personal protection class in 
 COAR's classroom.
 This class is designed to:
 
 Heighten your personal
  awareness of your surroundings
 Teach you how to interpret a situation t
 hat doesn’t seem right
 Train you on how to decide what your choices ar
 e in reacting
 Learn how to implement your decision
 
 In today’s wor
 ld\, this one-of-a-kind training is key to knowing that your self assessme
 nt of a situation is probably in the 40% to 70% range of being correct. Yo
 u’ll learn that waiting until you feel you are 100% certain\, it may be 
 too late.
 This class will teach you that your personal safety starts wit
 h an awareness of your surroundings and making decisions based on your obs
 ervations. Come listen to instructors give you information on what to look
  for and hear some advice regarding steps to take in protecting yourself a
 nd your family.

 ou will be provided a link to attend the class virtually if you choose to 
 do so.&nbsp\;Your virtual attendance will be monitored by the webinar plat
 form we use called GoToWebinar. GoToWebinar tracks your digital engagement
  and rates your participation\; we use the information provided by GoToWeb
 inar to confirm that virtual attendees have earned your CE credit.

 n-person and virtual attendees\, CE will be sent via email the day followi
 ng the event.

 For those attending this in-person presentation\
 , you will have the opportunity to sign up for hands-on training at the Sh
 eriff's department on May 23rd. You will observe some basic self-defense t
 actics and leave with a complimentary personal protection device. Registra
 tion for the hands-on training has a maximum of 12.
