The Central Oregon Association of REALTORS invites all members to its 2nd Annual Autumn Member Mixer on Sunday, October 22nd, 12:00-3:00 pm, at Schilling's Garden Market, 64640 Old Bend Redmond Hwy. The family-friendly event is free for COAR members and guests. Hosted appetizers & beverages, plus a free 15lb. pumpkin. Petting Zoo and hay maze for the kids. Register in advance to be entered in the free raffle entry.

CRB: Creating a Profitable Real Estate Company Webinar

Creating profit in real estate requires focus and diligence, as well as an understanding of the areas of your business you must be paying attention to as a business owner. This course will help the real estate business owner understand basic accounting principles, the importance of recruiting to profitability, and an understanding of when you should hire someone to assist you in running the financial part of your business so you can stay focused on your agents and staff. You will also learn the importance of monthly reporting and the analysis and interpretation of your financial position against profitability.

This is a 2 day course held October 23-24, from 8:30am-12:30pm both days.

Intermediate/advanced level webinar provides a concise and thorough overview of IRC Section 1031 tax-deferred exchanges for real estate professionals and commercial brokers.

This webinar covers critical IRS time deadlines in delayed exchanges, “like-kind” requirements including creative property variations like easements, transferable development rights, oil/gas/minerals rights, vacation homes held for investment, fractional ownership (DST and TICs), partnership/LLC scenarios (and how to best structure in advance of a 1031 exchange), reverse and improvement exchanges, related party transactions and how to avoid common pitfalls and other 1031 related issues.  The webinar will also summarize current developments regarding applicable Revenue Rulings, PLR’s, and recent IRS guidance on current topics related to 1031 exchanges. 

Learn how to help taxpayers owning commercial property in an LLC or partnership plan in advance to help avoid issues at closing if only some of the LLC members or partners want to exchange, including the “drop and swap,” "swap and drop,” Partnership Installment Note (PIN) approaches.

Scott Saunders is Senior Vice President with Asset Preservation, Inc. (API), a subsidiary of Stewart Information Services Corporation (NYSE: STC). Scott has an extensive background in IRC §1031 tax deferred exchanges, having been involved in structuring hundreds of thousands of §1031 exchanges during his thirty five years in the exchange industry. He is a former President and former Board member of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators (1031.org), the national 1031 exchange industry trade organization and holds a Business Economics degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB.)
