About the BBO Awards
The Building a Better Oregon* (BBO) Awards recognizes those who have enhanced their community with outstanding new or renovated residential, commercial, or industrial buildings. This community awards program was created by the association over 60 years ago. Projects are judged on:
- economic impact
- neighborhood improvement
- unique design and/or materials
- environmental friendliness.
Nominations for the Building a Better (BBO) Award open at the beginning of each year. A workgroup of members reviews applications and selects projects to be toured during the spring and summer. Awards are presented in the fall. For more information, contact

Note: The Building a Better Oregon Awards was known as the Building a Better Central Oregon Awards until 2023. The name was updated to reflect the association's expansion from central Oregon to include Wheeler, Grant, Baker, Union, and Wallowa counties in eastern Oregon.
